Autumn Driving - Tips

As we get closer to winter and the temperature starts to drop always ensure your windscreen and windows of any condensation or ice before you set off on your journey

Driving over a patch of wet leaves can be as dangerous as hitting a pool standing water so always take care and reduce your speed before driving through them or even better try to avoid them if possible.

The cold Autumn months can affect car batteries, so its best to keep the top of the battery clean and dry and check the terminals to make sure they are tight and free from any corrosion as it will affect the performance of it. If your battery is over three years old, check its still ok and functioning properly to save yourself a morning with your head under the bonnet when you’re in a hurry.

Check your windscreen wiper blades are in good condition. A good way of judging this is if they squeak as they wipe, they will more than likely need replacing. Always make sure they are turned off before starting the ignition to avoid tearing the blades on a frozen windscreen when starting the car.
